Financial Aid

Financial aid is available from a variety of sources depending on the program length.  Courses over 600 hours are eligible for the following financial aid arrangements:

  • Federal Pell Grant.  Applications are available at the Adult Education office or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Our Federal School Code is 017282.
  • Federal Student Loan Program.  Contact the financial aid administrator to discuss the application process.  These are interest-bearing loans which must be repaid regardless of course completion.
  • Workforce Investment Act assistance.  Mahoning County One Stop will assist qualified applicants with this process.  The One Stop information is available online at www.onestopohio.org or from the financial aid administrator.
  • Veterans’ education benefits.  Veterans or immediate family members may be eligible for assistance through the Veterans Administration.  Contact your local representative or the financial aid administrator. 
  • Scholarships.  Some professional organizations, foundations, and employers offer scholarships for continuing education.  Check with these organizations or your employer.
  • School payment plan.  A school payment plan can be established for monthly payments of tuition expenses.  No interest is charged for this payment plan.  Books and other expenses are not included in this payment plan.  An application is available in the financial aid office.

Courses less than 600 hours are eligible for the following financial aid arrangements:

  • School payment plan.  No interest Monthly payments are for tuition expenses only.  An application is available in the financial aid office.
  • Workforce Investment Act assistance.  Mahoning County One Stop will assist qualified applicants with this process.  The One Stop information is available online at www.onestopohio.org or from the financial aid administrator.
  • Scholarships.  Some professional organizations, foundations, and employers offer scholarships for continuing education.  Check with these organizations or your employer.

Federal Pell Grant.

Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Applications are also available in the Financial Aid Office. You must have a PIN number to sign the financial aid application online. Apply for your PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov. It is recommended that you request your PIN number before completing the FAFSA application online to avoid a delay in processing. Students may make an appointment with the financial aid administrator to process financial aid paperwork. Eligibility is determined by Title IV guidelines. Aid is awarded to students as they qualify and an award letter is given to the students for approval. Pell grant monies are applied to students' account each payment period as long as the student has maintained satisfactory academic progress. Refer to Student Handbook for additional information.

Students Viewing Available School Grants and Loans

Stafford Loans.

MPN is available through the Financial Aid Office. Certification is required from the financial aid administrator. Student loan recipients are required to attend loan entrance/exit counseling sessions. Students' rights and responsibilities are outlined in the Student Handbook. 30-day wait period is required before first loan disbursement.

Workforce Investment Act funds.

Apply through the One-Stop located in your county. Funds are disbursed according to agency policy.

Veteran's training.

Complete a VA 22-1990 available through the representative at the county One-Stop.

Consumer Information:

Information on the school policies regarding drug and alcohol abuse, completion and graduation rates, campus security statistics are available in the Financial Aid Office and the Student Handbook.

Refund Policy:

Career Training Programs: Upon written notification of withdrawal, students will be refunded the full amount, less a $15.00 withdrawal fee, up to the first class session. During the first week of class, upon written notification of withdrawal, 90% of the tuition will be refunded. During the second week of class, upon written notification of withdrawal, 50% of the Tuition will be refunded. No tuition will be refunded after the first day of the third week of class.
